Michigan: Flower power at Mackinac Island's Lilac Festival

Check out the flower power at the Lilac Festival on Mackinac Island, coming in June

Check out the flower power on Mackinac Island in June when the island lights up with millions of lilac blooms.

Originally just a one-day event, the Lilac Festival now runs for 10 days and draws thousands of visitors to this picturesque island where Lake Huron meets Lake Michigan. Mackinac doesn't allow motor-driven vehicles; events include a horse-drawn carriage parade and a Taste of Mackinac event.

Two- and three-night tours, organized by Mission Point Resort, include lilac and garden tours with a horticulturist, and fudge-making tours.

Dates: June 5-15

Price: $169 per night (two-night minimum), double occupancy, including accommodations, round-trip ferry transportation, breakfast, lilac and garden tour and other activities.
