Let Wynn Las Vegas teach you flower arranging, seafood cooking and more

You’ve bought flowers at the supermarket. A new bread maker sits on your kitchen counter. Now what? Let an expert flower arranger, chefs and others teach you their secrets throughout 2018 at Master Classes at Wynn Las Vegas.

The five-star resort is continuing its Master Class Series for a second year with new additions to the well-curated list of 2017 offerings. Last year’s classes took participants behind-the-scenes throughout the hotel-casino, from the poker room to a nightclub to the kitchen where new ideas for cocktails are tested.

Here are some of this year’s offerings:

“Florist for a Day,” 10 a.m. Jan. 18.

Evelyn Herrera, floral manager at Wynn Las Vegas, will lead guests on a tour of the resort’s beautiful arrangements before they create their own bouquets to take home.

Sip Champagne and nosh on hors d’oeuvres as you create floral arrangements to take home under the guidance of the hotel’s floral designer, Camille Lopez. Floral manager Evelyn Herrara will begin the workshop with a tour of the property to view its amazing flower displays. $150 per person.

“Master Tailgating Class,” 2 p.m. Jan. 19

Just in time for the NFL’s Championship Sunday and the Super Bowl, two of Wynn’s executive chefs will share tips on how cooks can elevate their game. Participants will learn how to make treats such as loaded baked potatoes, buffalo wings, chili, and pretzels with pub cheese. $150 per person.

“Fearless Seafood Cooking,” noon, Feb. 23

Mark LoRusso, executive chef at Costa di Mare, will try to demystify the home preparation of fish and seafood during a master class at his restaurant.

If preparing fresh fish and seafood sounds intimidating, let Mark LoRusso, executive chef at Costa di Mare, demystify it for you. He will demonstrate simple techniques for preparing seafood dishes at home. Guests will also gain inspiration while sampling the restaurant’s seasonal specialties. $150.

“Mastering Bread Making,” 2 p.m. March 21

Master artisan baker Johan Willar will take participants inside the hotel’s bread bakery to share recipes and techniques for successful baking at home. As guests look on, he will prepare both a crusty baguette and a soft Pullman loaf. The workshop includes a charcuterie lunch. $150.

“Cooking, Sinatra Style,” noon April 21

Fresh pasta and osso buco will among the dishes participants will learn how to make during a master class at Sinatra restaurant.

Luke Palladino, executive chef at Sinatra, will pair with A.J. Lambert, Frank Sinatra’s granddaughter, to prepare some of Ol’ Blue Eyes’ favorite dishes. The crafting of handmade pasta will be among the techniques taught. The class will be followed by lunch. $175.
