THE BEST WAY TO KALAW, MYANMARFrom LAX, connecting service (change of plane) to Yangon is offered on China Airlines, Singapore, Malaysia and China Eastern. Kalaw has no airport but Air Mandalay, https://www.airmandalay.com, and Air Bagan, https://www.airbagan.com, fly from Yangon to Heho three times a day. You can also reach Kalaw by air-conditioned bus from Yangon, a 12-hour ride. Tickets are about $13 and can be purchased at many Yangon hotels. Train service from Yangon is also available, with an overnight stay in Thazi at the Moon Light Guesthouse, followed by a scenic ride to Kalaw in the morning.
