New hotels in New York City

Here are more of the newest and brightest hotels to open recently in New York City. Prices quoted are for a standard double in early January.

Ace Hotel, 20 W. 29th St., (646) 214-5750 or (212) 679-2222, https://www.acehotel.com, has a cavernous lobby jam-packed with the in crowd, Stumptown Coffee Roasters, the Breslin Bar & Restaurant (by the same people who created the Spotted Pig downtown) and a range of room styles (including the economy bunk-bed model). $209.

The Chatwal, 130 W. 44th St., (888) 524-2892, https://www.thechatwalny.com, a diminutive luxury hotel in the elegantly restored Stanford White-designed Lambs Club near Times Square. $459.

Courtyard by Marriott, 181 Varick St., (800) 321-2211, https://www.courtyardsoho.com, in a new 19-story tower, is like every other functional, pared-down Courtyard, except that it’s on the edge of inviting, artistic Soho. $259.

Crosby Street Hotel, 79 Crosby St., (888) 559-5508, https://www.crosbystreethotel.com, an 86-room boutique with whimsical décor in the heart of Soho, brought to you by Firmdale, the same firm that created the Covent Garden and Charlotte Street hotels in London. $475.

Fashion 26, 152 W. 26th St., (212) 858-5888, https://www.f26nyc.com, a cheerfully stylish Garment District hotel in a new brick and glass tower with art from the nearby Fashion Institute of Technology and mini-cupcakes at the front desk. $199.

Holiday Inn Long Island City, 39-05 29th St., Long Island City, Queens; (888) 465-4329, https://www.holidayinn.com, straightforward accommodations in a new building with an indoor pool, a quick subway ride from Midtown. $114.

The James, 27 Grand St., (888) 526-3778, https://www.jameshotels.com, a small, sedate place slipped into the west side of Soho, with a rooftop pool, deck and bar. $375.

The Standard, 848 Washington St., (877) 550-4646, https://www.standardhotels.com, a Meatpacking District hot spot by André Balazs of the L.A. Standards, straddles High Line park and has rooms with big exhibitionistic windows. $266.
