Bret Michaels switches gears from heavy metal to country when he turns up at the Orleans Showroom on Nov. 21 and 22 with his True Grit solo country-rock tour.

The lead singer of the 1980s hair metal band Poison released his latest country album back in April. It features mostly compilations as well as original songs such as “Girls on Bars,” “A Beautiful Soul” and “Get Undone.”

During Michaels’ career, he not only fronted Poison but starred in VH1’s “Rock of Love With Bret Michaels” and NBC’s “Celebrity Apprentice 3.”

Poison is probably best known for its chart-topping single “Every Rose Has Its Thorn” in 1988.

A decade later, Michaels released his first solo album titled “A Letter from Death Row.” The album served as the soundtrack to a movie of the same title that he starred in, directed and produced. Sheen/Michaels Entertainment, his production company with actor Charlie Sheen, went on to produce “No Code of Conduct,” “Free Money” and “In God’s Hands.”

In 2007, he starred in “Rock of Love With Bret Michaels,” his VH1 reality dating show that spawned “Rock My World,” an album based on the show.

Michaels won the third season of “Celebrity Apprentice,” the reality game show that at the time was hosted by Donald Trump. From the show, he raised $640,000 for the American Diabetes Association.

Michaels also cut an album called “Custom Built” that featured a collaboration with Miley Cyrus and a cover of Sublime’s hit “What I Got.”

Tickets cost $59.95.
