Local News in Brief : 800 Encino Homes Hit by Brief Power Outage
An unexplained glitch in an underground power line left about 800 Encino homes without power for at least an hour Wednesday, a spokeswoman for the city Department of Water and Power said.
The outage, reported at 8:30 a.m., was not related to a larger power failure Tuesday in West Los Angeles, DWP spokeswoman Elizabeth Wimmer said.
Wimmer said Wednesday’s outage affected homes in a 10-block area near Sepulveda Boulevard and Mulholland Drive in Encino. Electricity was restored to most of the homes in about an hour, and to all of the homes by 12:55 p.m., she said.
Wimmer said the outage was caused by a temporary failure in a 48,000-volt underground power line. She said she did not know why the line failed.
