Ex-Councilman’s Trial Rescheduled: The trial of former Stanton City Council member Frank Marshott on misdemeanor charges of conflict of interest was rescheduled Wednesday to April 25. Marshott, 64, was a councilman from 1967 until last November, when he lost his reelection bid for an unprecedented fifth term. The election came a week after he was charged with voting to raise trash collection rates at the same time that his insurance firm handled the insurance policies of the rubbish contractor doing business with the city. Deputy Dist. Atty. Jim Reilly said the postponement in the West Orange County Municipal Court trial, which had been scheduled to begin March 28, was granted at the request of the defense. If convicted, Marshott could be fined $500 and sentenced to jail for six months on each of the three misdemeanor charges.
