A police sergeant accused in a fatal hit-and-run accident on New York City’s Park Avenue was arrested on charges of manslaughter and criminally negligent homicide. Sgt. Frederick Sherman, 37, and Officers Edwin Collazo, 26, and Anthony Conte, 25, had been suspended as a result of a Friday night accident that killed one man and injured another. However, only Sherman was ordered arrested on charges of second-degree manslaughter, criminally negligent homicide and leaving the scene of an accident. The city’s police union said in a statement that Collazo and Conte had said that Sherman was driving the car. After striking the two pedestrians, the officers completed their assigned shift and failed to report the accident, police have charged. Other than denying that they were involved, the three had been silent about the incident.
