Polls Show Specht No. 2 in City Attorney Contest
Public opinion polls released Tuesday by two local television stations indicated that Westside lawyer Lisa Specht has taken over second place in the five-candidate race for Los Angeles city attorney with less than a week remaining before the municipal primary.
A survey done Monday night by pollster Steven Teichner for KABC-TV shows that Specht has the support of 18% of those polled and that City Controller James Hahn leads with 38%. Attorney Murray Kane, who had been neck and neck with Specht until she began a $360,000 television ad campaign two weeks ago, was in third place with 5%. Of the 400 people surveyed, 36% said they were undecided.
Meanwhile, a KCBS-TV poll of 997 registered voters placed Hahn and Specht even closer, with Specht receiving 22% to Hahn’s 35% and Kane’s 9%.
