The state and three private corporations will finance a $500,000 study on ways to clean up the Los Angeles-area Del Amo toxic waste site, the Deukmejian Administration said. Dow Chemical, Shell Oil and Cadillac-Fairview Inc., will provide $425,000, said Dr. Kenneth Kizer, director of the state Department of Health Services. The state will supply $75,000 from its Superfund account. Kizer said the current problems at Del Amo stem from the production of synthetic rubber during World War II, at which time toxic chemicals were generated as waste.
