University of California, Berkeley, police arrested two anti-apartheid protesters during the 12th day of a campus sit-in to protest university investments in firms that do business in South Africa, bringing the total number to 161 arrests since the campus sit-in began. Police said one of those arrested struck an officer who was trying to stop him from plugging in sound equipment for a rock band. About 150 screaming demonstrators chased the police while they dragged the demonstrator from the scene. Another protester was arrested for possession of two double-edged daggers.
