The United Rubber Workers and the Columbus, Ohio-based tire maker announced that they reached a tentative agreement on a new three-year contract, covering 7,200 workers at five B.F. Goodrich plants. The agreement, which is expected to set a pattern for the rest of the industry, maintains a cost-of-living allowance formula, which could result in $1.89 per-hour-wage increase over three years, assuming a 5% inflation rate. It also includes a general wage increase of 43 cents per hour over three years. URW members earn an average of $12.39 an hour.
