Soviet Generals Die in Line of Duty

MOSCOW —
A group of Soviet air force generals and officers stationed in the Carpathian Mountains “tragically perished” in the line of duty Friday, the military newspaper Red Star said today.
The report gave no details of the cause of death or the number of people involved, but a Western military attache said it was probably an air crash or an auto accident. The Soviet media rarely report accidents unless foreigners or top officials are involved.
