About 25 demonstrators occupied the lobby of the Lebanese Consulate in Hollywood to protest what they call the “slaughter” of Christians in Lebanon. The sit-in marked the fourth day that members of the American Lebanese Christian Organizations have occupied the lobby, said group spokesman Michael Aoun, an American of Lebanese descent. Aoun said the action is aimed at focusing public attention on the “plight of thousands of Christians in Lebanon who have become refugees in their own country.” Aoun said his organization intends to continue the sit-in until its demands are met. The organization’s demands include the resignation of the Lebanese Cabinet; support for Lebanese Christians by world governments, including the United States, and support from the church community to save the “last bastion of Christianity in the Middle East.”
