Ex-Sen. Magnuson Has Foot Amputated
Former Sen. Warren Magnuson’s right foot has been amputated because of a circulation problem, a hospital spokesman said.
Magnuson, 80, was admitted to the Veterans Administration Medical Center last week and will be hospitalized for several days, said spokesman Ray Tufts.
Magnuson is expected to receive an artificial foot called the “Seattle foot,” developed by his physician, Ernest Burgess, Jermaine Magnuson said. The foot is designed for athletic amputees and allows them to jog and play a variety of sports.
