Council to Elect Mayor: Irvine’s City Council will elect a mayor and mayor pro tem tonight for one-year terms to what are largely ceremonial posts. Although it is not necessary to do so, the mayor’s office is usually rotated among the city’s five council members. Currently, council members Sally Ann Miller, Barbara Weiner and Dave Baker have not served as mayor, while Larry Agran has served two previous terms. The incumbent, David Sills, has served four terms as mayor.
