Trouble in Aix
We were traveling through Aix-en-Provence with no intention of staying. We wanted just to see the Atelier de Cezanne. We were away from the car for no more than two minutes. Three men had broken into our car. When they saw my husband returning, they each grabbed a bag and ran into the building.
Many people were watching from balconies, etc., and would do nothing. One man refused to even call the police for us (as we spoke no French). One elderly woman said she knew who the men were, and to go to the police station. The policemen would not even take the time to listen to us. They would not even give us a report for our insurance company. There were people there who spoke English, so they understood us perfectly. We had to drive for several hours to Lyon to even make a report.
