OKLAHOMA CITY —
A man who cut off his hand with an ax was in stable condition Saturday at Oklahoma Memorial Hospital where doctors reattached the severed limb, officials said.
Police said Frank E. Talton, 21, of Duncan, Okla., quoted a Bible verse before taking an ax out of a neighbor’s garage and hacking off his own right hand Tuesday.
Talton reportedly said: “If thy right hand offend thee, cut it off,” police Capt. P. B. Foster said.
