Senate’s Vote on Gun Control

This is in regard to your “Gun-Ho” editorial. I’ll keep it simple. I am opposed to gun control. Here are just some of the reasons.

One of the basic tenets of communism is to “disarm the masses,” so that only the military and police personnel will have weapons. Smart move. That way none of us can defend ourselves when the time comes.

I believe gun control is unconstitutional. Our Supreme Court seems forever crying about protecting our constitutional rights. It seems to be inconsistent that they choose to overlook the Second Amendment to the Constitution in their zeal, which is as much a part of the Bill of Rights as free speech or freedom of religion.

Proponents of gun control say “people with guns kill people.” Correction--or should I say addition: People with knives kill people; people with blunt objects kill people; people with electrical cords kill people. People with anger, hatred and ignorance kill people. And let’s not forget the biggest killer of all--people with automobiles. More people kill other people with automobiles than with guns. Yet anyone can buy an automobile from anyone, any place, anytime, and drive it unlicensed and uninsured. It’s easy. I work in the insurance industry and I know.
