Stop Fighting, Amin Tells His ‘Boys’ in Capital
Former Ugandan dictator Idi Amin said Sunday that he has ordered his followers to end their fighting in Kampala and to support the coup leaders who toppled President Milton Obote on Saturday.
“I have been in contact with my boys and, this morning, I ordered them to stop fighting the government and support the coup,” Amin said by telephone from the Saudi Arabian city of Jidda, where he lives in exile. “This is important to restore security to the country,” he said.
Asked how he had contacted his supporters, Amin replied, “I am in touch with them by different methods and through various channels.”
