Placentia : Molotov Cocktail Sets Small Apartment Fire

Share

A Placentia apartment was set afire early Friday after a Molotov cocktail was tossed through the living room window.

Placentia Police Lt. Chuck Babcock said that Brea resident David Alexander, 38, was asleep in the living room of the apartment at 638 W. Center St. when he was awakened about 4 a.m. by the sound of breaking glass.

The makeshift bomb, a bottle of flammable liquid topped with a wick, started a small fire which caused about $150 damage to the window, curtain and carpet but was quickly extinguished.

Alexander chased the unidentified bomb-tosser to a vehicle, in which he fled. Neither Alexander nor the other occupants of the apartment, Sherry Buffalo, 41, and her son, Edward Joseph, 23, were hurt. Babcock said police believe the incident erupted from a domestic dispute. Placentia police and the Orange County Fire Department arson team are investigating.
