Clerk’s Husband of Two Weeks Held : Altercation at Office Ends in Arrest

The honeymoon appears to be over for a newlywed Canoga Park insurance company clerk and her husband of two weeks.

The husband stopped at her office Wednesday for an unexpected visit, said other employees of the Metropolitan Life Insurance Co. office at 6700 Fallbrook Ave.

Several hours later, he was still there.

Employees said they called the Los Angeles Police Department when the man became quarrelsome and refused to leave.

The bridegroom continued to balk at leaving and scuffled with an officer sent to the scene, police said. Police summoned reinforcements.

A fight broke out and spilled out of the company’s front office and into a computer room, damaging some electronic gear and forcing a computer operator to climb over a row of equipment to escape.

The battle ended when officers subdued the man by firing three volleys of Taser darts, which deliver a disabling but usually harmless electrical shock.

Police said Dan Savage, 26, of Canoga Park was subdued and taken to Northridge Hospital Medical Center, where he was found to be uninjured.

Officers said Savage’s wife, June Myhre Savage, escaped injury during the 10-minute altercation.

Savage was arrested on suspicion of battery on a police officer and taken to Los Angeles County Jail, police said.
