6 Foster Children Die as Fire Traps Them in Home

Fire swept through a wood-frame home Friday, killing six foster children who were trapped in their bedrooms, authorities said. An infant and three other people escaped. A spokeswoman for the state Welfare Department said the dead ranged from 1 1/2 to 5 years old.
