On Aid to the Contras in Nicaragua
Congratulations to all our members of the House of Representatives who voted against sending offensive weapons to the contras in Nicaragua. These members saw beyond war as a solution to international problems and voted for a democratic, negotiated settlement in Nicaragua.
We hope that this vote will encourage the Contadora nations--Mexico, Colombia, Venezuela and Panama to work for what they want--a peaceful settlement instead of more bloodshed.
I believe the members of the House showed courage and displayed wisdom in seeing beyond war as a solution.
