Steelcase Adds Showroom

The expansion and renovation of the already huge Steelcase Inc. office furniture plant in Tustin could justify calling the Orange County city the Office Furniture Capital of the West.

Opened in 1972, the plant now has 1 million square feet of space and 1,150 employees who can turn out 1,000 chairs and 400 desks every working day.

Steelcase also has opened its first Orange County showroom, 12,000 square feet of space at 1123 Warner Ave., Tustin. Steelcase Inc., Grand Rapids, Mich., calls itself the "world's leading designer and manufacturer of office furniture," with $1.2 billion in annual sales.

"For the first time, the showroom gives Steelcase in Orange County the opportunity to showcase our products, programs and services more fully to assist architects and designers in creating effective office environments," according to general manager Jim Delaney.
