Faria Is Speedway’s 1st Double-Winner

Mike Faria became the first double-winner of the season at the weekly speedway motorcycle racing at the Orange County Fairgrounds in Costa Mesa Friday night.

A crowd of 5,079 saw Faria take the four-lap scratch main event with a wire-to-wire win. Keith Chrisco of Whittier was second, Brad Oxley of San Clemente finished third and Tim McCasland of Fountain Valley, fourth.

In the five-lap handicap main event, Faria shot through an opening in the fourth turn and went on to win. Chrisco again placed second, Shawn McConnell of Brea was third, Jeff Johnson of Riverside was fourth, Walt Farnum of Ventura was fifth and Ed Castro of Ojai, sixth.
