Westminster : Man Wounded as Fight Erupts in Parking Lot
A Midway City man was shot after another man approached him in a Westminster parking lot and a fight erupted Monday, Westminster police said.
Dang Le, 26, was in fair condition at Fountain Valley Regional Hospital where he was treated for a gunshot wound in the lower right leg and a head injury, according to Sgt. Rick Skarpho.
Skarpho said that about 1:40 p.m., Le was beside his car in a parking lot at 9635 Bolsa Ave., the Man Wah Shopping Center. Skarpho said a man, about 26, approached Le and started talking to him. The talk escalated into an argument and then into a fight, Skarpho said.
During the fight, said Skarpho, the suspect pulled a gun and struck Le on the head and then shot him in the right leg. The suspect, who wore a white shirt and tan trousers, then fled.
Skarpho said the motive for the attack is unknown “but it possibly was a robbery attempt.”
