NAPLES, Italy —
A U.S. Marine Corps plane with a crew of two crashed in the Mediterranean Sea southeast of Crete today while searching for a missing Navy aircraft, a Navy spokesman said. A sea-and-air search was immediately launched for the pilot and flight officer on the A-6.
The plane had taken off from the aircraft carrier John F. Kennedy as part of a sea-and-air search for a plane from the same carrier, an S-3A Viking submarine hunter, which has been missing since Tuesday. The Viking carried a crew of four.
