Charger tight end Eric Sievers underwent arthroscopic knee surgery Thursday and will not play in Sunday’s game at Philadelphia.

Sievers hurt his right knee last Sunday in Kansas City, the Chargers said.

The Chargers said a decision would be made today on whether to place running back Lionel James on injured reserve. James, who set an National Football League record last year with 2,535 all-purpose yards, will miss Sunday’s game with a sprained ankle.

The Chargers will also be without quarterback Dan Fouts, who suffered a concussion last Sunday, and may be without wide receiver Wes Chandler, who is listed as questionable with a sprained foot.
