Winds near 100 m.p.h. buffeted the Rockies, and a warming trend ended six days of record cold in much of the nation. In North Dakota, searchers on horseback found the frozen body of 13-year-old John Robertson, who apparently lost his way in a blizzard eight days ago, police said. Six inches of snow fell on Stampede Pass, Wash., and snow fell in the northern Rockies, Great Lakes and parts of the Northeast. A 94-m.p.h. gust was clocked at Squaw Mountain, Colo., west of Denver, and a high-wind watch was in effect in southeastern Wyoming. The low temperature was 4 degrees at Hibbing and International Falls, Minn. In Florida, Sarasota, St. Petersburg and Clearwater reached 85.
