Americans overwhelmingly favor having public schools offer a variety of religious studies, including elective Bible study courses, use of the Bible in literature, history and social studies classes, and comparative religion courses, a Gallup Poll says. A large majority favors letting student religious groups use school facilities during non-school hours. The survey found no significant difference in opinion about school participation in each activity, with 74% to 79% not objecting. The percent who would object to any of the actions is only between 16% and 21% nationwide. The poll found heavy support in all U.S. regions and among all major population groups.
