Community College Basketball Roundup : Olivarez Scores 17 to Lead Cypress Past Claremont’s Junior Varsity

Four players scored in double figures for Cypress College Tuesday night, as the Chargers defeated Claremont College’s junior varsity, 83-55, in a nonconference game at Cypress College.

Andy Olivarez led the Chargers with 17 points, Jim Sammon scored 16 points, Dave Kirksey added 14 points and Kris Brodowski scored 10 points. Cypress is 2-2.

Fullerton 102, Citrus 85--Bart Hakeman scored 16 of his game-high 29 points in the second half to lead the Hornets past the Owls at Fullerton College. Troy Joseph added 22 points for Fullerton (3-2). Citrus is 2-1.

In women’s action:

Cypress 82, Pasadena 54--Venetta Dorlis, a freshman guard from Savanna High School, scored 15 points to lead the Chargers (2-2) to a victory over the Lancers at Cypress College.
