As the new year dawns, television seems resolved to make us shape up, with several new programs dealing with health and well-being starting up today.

The first one is “The Living Body,” a 26-part series that explores the body and the constant demands placed on it, debuting at 2:30 p.m. today on Channel 28.

At 3 p.m., Channel 28 offers the second season premiere of “Bodywatch,” a 26-part series on health, fitness and nutrition hosted by Dr. James (Red) Duke Jr. The title of the first segment is “Doctors Are People Too.”

“Your Health, Your Life,” at 4:30 this afternoon on KABC-TV Channel 7, finds Dr. Art Ulene discussing how to help children cope with the death of a parent. Plastic surgery, estrogen therapy and weight loss are other topics.

Sunday night, meanwhile, will bring a new two-hour Disney movie and the start of a two-part, four-hour drama on CBS.

“Double Switch,” Sunday at 7 p.m. on ABC’s “Disney Movie” (Channels 7, 3, 10, 42), is a family-oriented film about a teen-age rock star and the winner of his look-alike contest who (guess what?) decide to change places. George Newbern plays both roles.

“At Mother’s Request,” 9 p.m. Sunday on CBS (Channels 2 and 8), is a fact-based drama about a bizarre murder case in Utah about a woman who wants her millionaire father killed and gets her young son to do the deed. Stefanie Powers, E. G. Marshall, Doug McKeon and Frances Sternhagen are in the cast. The drama concludes at 9 p.m. Tuesday.
