The Uproar Among Television Preachers

Over the years I have bragged about and defended the PTL (Praise the Lord) ministry because I felt the people to be genuine and sincere. Now with the latest happenings, I feel betrayed by the lies and cover-ups that have obviously been going on for years.

I have sat by and watched as Jim and Tammy Bakker told their partners time and again that they were being treated unfairly by the press. They both defended their rights to have very expensive homes, cars, jewelry and clothing. They tried to convince their partners that they were entitled to nice things even though their ministry was always in debt. They begged for money to keep PTL afloat while they enjoyed their luxuries.

I know Jim and Tammy are only human and are entitled to make mistakes. This I could have understood. But when they lied and tried to pretend they didn’t, this I can not forgive.
