Local News in Brief : Hidden Hills Mayor Resigns From Council

Share

Hidden Hills Mayor Alana Knaster has resigned from the City Council and moved from the gate-guarded city at the western edge of the San Fernando Valley, officials said Wednesday.

The city will seek applications from residents interested in filling the council vacancy before deciding whether to appoint a replacement or call an election, City Clerk Cherie Paglia said.

Knaster, elected to the council in 1982, had served as the city’s appointed mayor for three years. Her unpaid council term had three more years to run.

She said her family has moved to next-door Calabasas Park, across the Ventura Freeway from Hidden Hills’ front gate. Her resignation took effect Tuesday.

“We didn’t want to live on the hill any more, so we sold our home,” Knaster said. “But we couldn’t find another one in the city’s flat area in time.”

Councilman Chris Van Peski will serve as acting mayor, Paglia said.
