Bad Drivers to Pay Extra for Licenses
Drivers who have been barred from driving in the state of New South Wales will have to pay much more to renew their licenses than good drivers, Transport Minister Ron Mulock said Thursday.
Under a new system to be introduced in Australia’s most populous state over the next three years, drivers will receive different colored licenses related to their record and ability. A gold license lasting five years will cost $35 for licensed drivers who have never been banned. Black 12-month probationary licenses, costing $70, will be issued to any driver returning from an off-the-road ban.
