SDSU Men Advance to Tennis Semifinals

The San Diego State University men’s tennis team defeated Colorado State, 6-3, Monday to advance to the semifinals of the Western Athletic Conference championships at Albuquerque, N.M.

San Diego State (23-12) will play New Mexico, a 5-1 winner over Hawaii, today at 10 (PDT).

The second-seeded Aztecs won their six singles matches and SDSU Coach Skip Redondo decided to default the doubles matches. Julio Noriega, Russell Meyers, John Cost, Flennell Parrish, Donny Young and Leland Rolling all won in singles for the Aztecs.

In the other WAC matches, fifth-seeded Air Force upset fourth-seeded Brigham Young, 5-4, and will play top-seeded Utah, which had a bye, today at 8 (PDT). The final is set for Wednesday.
