Man Slain, FBI Hostages Freed

PORTLAND, Ore. —
A man was shot and killed today after he took five FBI agents hostage in downtown Portland, authorities said.
The armed man entered the FBI headquarters shortly after 9 a.m. and held the five agents for about an hour. The man, whom an FBI spokesman refused to identify, was shot by two FBI agents who were not among the hostages. The man fired no shots and no one else was hurt.
