Lawmakers Set to Act on Bill to Aid Dayton Hudson
Minnesota legislators worked into the evening Wednesday putting the finishing touches on compromise anti-takeover legislation that would aid Dayton Hudson, the Minneapolis-based retailer girding for a possible fight with Dart Group.
The Minnesota Legislature is expected to act today on the compromise package.
Wednesday night, Gov. Rudy G. Perpich headed for home in St. Paul, leaving political leaders to haggle over details of an anti-takeover bill before officially calling the Legislature into session.
“The governor says he won’t put pen to paper until he gets a package agreement on a single bill,” spokesman Gerry Nelson said. Nonetheless, he added, it’s expected that the Legislature will meet at 2 p.m. today to consider amendments.
