Culver City : Legal Aid for Seniors Offered
Attorneys and paralegals will visit the Culver City Senior Citizens Center, 4153 Overland Ave., on Tuesday to provide free legal assistance for needy senior citizens.
The legal team, part of the County Legal Assistance for the Welfare of Seniors (LAWS) project, gives priority to helping clients in life-threatening circumstances, with special emphasis on legal assistance for critical problems with government benefits such as Social Security, Medi-Cal and Medicare.
Help will be available for other legal needs as well, except criminal defense, immigration, contested divorce or a lawsuit a private attorney would accept on a contingent-fee basis.
The project’s service in Culver City is also intended to assist senior citizens in Ladera Heights and Santa Monica.
Those interested in receiving legal assistance on Tuesday must make an appointment at the senior citizens center either in person or by calling (213) 559-2266.
