‘BABYSITTING’

With regard to the item about Gary Franklin being offended by racial stereotyping in “Adventures in Babysitting” (Outtakes, by Patrick Goldstein, July 5, and this week’s Outtakes, Page 23), it never occurred to us that because the movie cast two black men as car thieves (never mind that one of them turns out to be the hero of the film, that’s not the point, and that these are two black men out of a gang of 20 or so other thieves; that’s still not the point) and that a black face or two can be spotted among the racially mixed street gangs of one scene, and that the film makers would dare fill an inner-city bar with black extras to watch the performance of blues guitarist Albert Collins (shudders), this film succumbs to racial stereotyping that exists only in the movies, not in real life.

Thank God for movie critic and racist watchdog Gary Franklin, who will save the country from this evil that Disney is attempting to spread across the country.

The question is, however, who will save us from Gary Franklin?
