A jury was selected in New York City for the federal court trial of Rep. Mario Biaggi (D-N.Y.), charged with accepting two Florida vacations from former Brooklyn Democratic boss Meade Esposito in return for using his influence to help a dry dock firm that was seeking federal contracts. The now-bankrupt firm had owed Esposito’s insurance company $613,000 in premiums. Esposito is a co-defendant in the trial, which will start Monday. The judge rejected a request by Biaggi’s attorney to dismiss the jury.
