Fords, Carters to Join Reagans at Calif. Theater Opening
President and Mrs. Reagan will fly to California Sunday where they plan to celebrate the New Year and join two former Presidents in opening a new theater.
The Reagans’ itinerary includes two days in Los Angeles before a flight to the plush Palm Springs estate of multimillionaire Walter Annenberg, where the couple will ring in their last year in the Reagan presidency at a traditional black tie dinner dance.
On Jan. 2, former President Gerald R. Ford and his wife, Betty, and former President and Mrs. Jimmy Carter will be with the Reagans as guests at an opening of the McCallum Theater in the Bob Hope Palm Springs Cultural Center.
The Reagans, as usual, will spend Christmas Eve at the home of USIA director Charles Z. Wick and his wife. Christmas Day in the White House will be spent with the First Lady’s brother and his family. None of the Reagan children will join them.
