Salaries
Every once in awhile The Times prints a little, almost invisible, zinger full of scary content. Like in the Metro Digest, Dec. 10. In the horrifying box entitled “The $100,000 Club: Appointed Officials” there appeared: “Los Angeles County does not disclose salaries for deputy department heads.”
How quaint! How bloody sweet! The public trough is kept secret for the “second” raters. Lovely!
And the poor--they remain safely anonymous, too.
