Vista
A 21-year-old man was in serious condition after being shot in the abdomen Monday afternoon by an unknown assailant while he stood on a street corner in Vista, the Sheriff’s Department reported.
Rojelio Gonzalez, a laborer, was taken by Life Flight from Tri-City Medical Center to the trauma center at Palomar Hospital, where he underwent surgery at 3:30 p.m. Monday. He remained in the intensive care unit Tuesday.
Gonzalez, whose address wasn’t available, was standing on a corner on East Vista Way when he was shot, the spokesman said. It is not known if Gonzalez was a victim of a drive-by shooting. He was taken to Tri-City by private car.
Sheriff’s Department homicide investigators will question him.
