ODDS AND SODS: Are the Fat Boys rap music’s answer to Willie (Have Duet Will Travel) Nelson? Last year the hefty hip-hoppers did a remake of “Wipe Out” with the Beach Boys. Now they’ve joined forces with Chubby Checker for a new rendition of Checker’s 1960 hit, “The Twist.” Due out as a single at the end of May, the song will be on the Fat Boy’s new album--due in June. How’d Chubby like working with the Fat Boys? “They make me feel thin!” he said. . . . Paging Little Richard fans: The dusty-disc section of the Rhino Records vaults has dug up an intriguing Richard compilation titled “Shut Up! A Collection of Rare Tracks: 1951-1964.” Highlights include versions of “Whole Lotta Shakin’ Going On” and “Hound Dog” (with Jimi Hendrix on guitar), the gospel tune “Do Lord, Remember Me” (produced by Quincy Jones) and a sizzling piano number “Little Richard’s Boogie”. . . . And don’t forget that C.J. Chenier (Clifton’s son) and his Red Hot Louisiana Band will be at the Music Machine on Friday night for a big zydeco dance--courtesy of the Southern California Blues Society.
