Iraq fired two long-range missiles into Tehran, killing at least seven people, while its warplanes launched a bombing raid on the western Iranian city of Ilam, according to reports from both sides. The jet strike came one day after Iraqi warplanes bombed five western Iranian towns, killing at least 53 people and wounding 112. At the same time, Iranian jets pounded Iraqi troops in a strategic region in northeastern Iraq, according to Tehran Radio. The radio report also said that Baghdad again used chemical weapons in an attack on a Kurdish village in northern Iran. Tehran earlier accused Iraq of using poison gas in an attack that left 5,000 Kurds dead. Iraq, however, said it would fight “with all available weapons” until Tehran agrees to settle the 7 1/2-year-old war.
