Director Elem Klimov will be honored April 8 by the American-Soviet Film Initiative, the organization responsible for the recent entertainment summits in Los Angeles and Moscow. Among the hosts of the fund-raiser: Robert De Niro, Sydney Pollack, Stanley Kramer, Quincy Jones and Rosanna Arquette. Highlights of glasnost -era films will be screened at the Directors Guild followed by a traditional Russian dinner celebration at the Bel Age Hotel. Proceeds from the $200-$500-a-ticket event will go toward furthering U.S.-Soviet cultural exchanges and film relations, a spokesman said.
