Classroom Gunman Subdued

Alhambra police report an 18-year-old San Gabriel man walked into a classroom about 11:30 a.m. today at San Gabriel High School, brandished a semiautomatic weapon and attempted to fire it, but the weapon jammed and he was overcome by several of the 70 seniors in the class.
The gunman, identified as a former student at the school, which is near the Alhambra-San Gabriel border, was taken into custody by police who arrived a short time later. No injuries were reported.
