PASSINGS : S. Alfred Halgren; Former Federal Reserve Bank Official
S. Alfred Halgren, 80, former deputy chairman of the Federal Reserve Bank of San Francisco and a longtime vice president of the Carnation Co. of Los Angeles. Halgren, who worked for Carnation for 33 years before retiring in 1974 as a senior vice president, had been a director of the L.A. branch of the reserve bank before gaining the San Francisco appointment in 1966. Halgren, an attorney, also was a past president of the Los Angeles Area Council of the Boy Scouts of America, a founding director of Hollywood Presbyterian Hospital and a director of several other businesses and associations.
